Infant in home taken into protective custody
Wednesday morning at around 7 a.m., officers from the Union Public Safety Department and deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Douglas Heights for an overdose. Upon arrival, officers found that a two-year-old child had ingested some type of drug and was unresponsive. Union County EMS treated the child, and the child was taken to Prisma Healthcare in Greenville for further treatment. A three-month-old child was also in the home at the time. The infant was taken into protective custody, and DSS was notified. The mother, identified as 30-year-old Taylor Marie Cogdill, and the father, identified as 31-year-old Jordan Allen Thompson, were arrested and have been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. The investigation continues, and no further details are available.
