Men charged with attempted murder

Two adult men are charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 14-year-old. According to the incident report, the shooting happened Tuesday night on Lipsey Street. Dispatch advised officers that the victim ran to Gault Avenue after being shot. The victim was then transported by private vehicle to Union Medical Center for treatment. Cpl. Voiselle spoke to a witness while other officers marked evidence. The witness stated that Dewayne Stevens, Sr. had shot the boy. He stated that the victim and another boy had been arguing. The other boy called Stevens, who is his father, and he came to Lipsey Street. The witness stated that while talking, Stevens pulled out a handgun and shot the 14-year-old victim. Sgt. Lee spoke to another witness, and she stated that she had seen Stevens with a handgun. She said she was on the couch and heard a gunshot. She said her son came running to the house and stated he was calling the police. She got up and went outside and saw Stevens walking back to a car with the handgun.

According to the arrest warrants, 51-year-old DeWayne Darnell Stevens, Sr. is charged with attempted murder for shooting the victim. 44-year-old Antwon Darrell Cohen, Sr. is charged with attempted murder for providing transportation to Stevens both to and from the crime scene.
