Few details known in either case
The Union Public Safety Department is investigating two cases of shots fired over the weekend. Few details are known about either incident. Officers were dispatched Friday evening to a shooting incident at the Buena Vista Apartments on Rice Avenue Extension. Officers identified the victim as 24-year-old man who lives in one of the apartments. The man had suffered a gunshot wound to his backside. He was unable to identify the shooter, and immediate bystanders offered little information on the incident. The man was transported by medics to Union Medical Center. Investigator Gregory arrived on scene and took over the investigation, assisted by officers who helped process the scene. The case has been turned over to investigations.
Sunday evening at around 9:52 p.m., city officers were told by dispatch that they received several calls concerning multiple shots heard in the 200 block of Lawson Avenue in the city. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area to try and find witnesses and make sure everyone in the area was unharmed. They found one gunshot victim, who was transported by ambulance to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Officers collected evidence from the scene. The case has been forwarded to investigations. A supplemental report identifies the victim as a 32-year-old female who lives on Lawson Avenue. Haroitas Geneiro Jones of Jonesville is listed as the subject in the case. Jones is listed as an inmate at the Union County Jail, charged with disorderly conduct and 3rd-degree assault and battery. No further information is available.
