Union County Agricultural Fair Opens Soon

Daniel Prince

Advance Megga pass is the best deal

The next edition of the Union County Agricultural Fair opens its gates two weeks from yesterday, on Tuesday, October 19. The best deal for tickets remains the Megga Pass, which is only available before the fair opens. The Megga Pass will get you in the gate and allow you to ride all rides, all for $20. Tickets will only be available through Monday, October 18, the day before the fair opens. You can stop by WBCU for your Megga Pass. Our doors are open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition to WBCU, you can purchase those pre-sale tickets at Buffalo Pawn Shop, City Hall, Dairio, Dollar General, Fat Sams, Embroidery by Karen, Reece O’Dell, Roberts Accounting, Sonoco, T&L Diner, Carlisle Town Hall, Union County Courthouse, and Union Medical Center. Fair personnel will also be at Union County Stadium Friday night for the home football game against Woodruff. They will be selling the $20 Megga Passes from 7 p.m. until the end of halftime.

The only admission ticket promotions that are planned will be Two-Buck Tuesday, with gate admission $2 with a canned food donation; Wednesday’s Church Night, which offers free gate admission with a church pass from 4-8 p.m.; Jacket Night, which will be Thursday night, featuring free gate admission with student ID from 4-8 p.m.; and Heroes Day on Saturday, offering free gate admission for all community heroes, such as health care workers, EMT, fire, police, sheriff, etc., with valid ID. Regular gate admission will be $8 for ages 13-62, $6 for children ages 2-12 and seniors ages 62 and older, and toddlers under age 2 get in free.

While the advance Megga Pass is the best value for most, as it combines gate admission and unlimited rides for a total of $20, there will be a few other ride promotions going on throughout the week for those who don’t get the pre-sale tickets. Two-Buck Tuesday returns this year, with all rides $2 each. Wednesday and Thursday offers $4 off rides with a church Night ticket Wednesday or a Jacket Night ticket Thursday. Tuesday through Friday, pay-one-price ride bands will be available for $22 at the carnival box office. Saturday, the price of a pay-one-price goes up to $25.

The Old Paths are the featured entertainers for Church Night at the Fair. The annual Union County Fair Beauty Pageant will be held Friday, October 22, at 5 p.m. The car giveaway will be held Saturday, October 23, at 9 p.m. There will be one entry with paid adult gate admission, with additional chances available by purchasing tickets for $3 each. You must be present to win. Other attractions at the fair include the show Horses, Horses, Horses. Rosaire’s Royal Racers will be holding pig races. Lew-E’s Comedy Circus returns to the fair this year, as does Fast Action Motor Sports RC car races. As always, the fair will feature rides, various livestock shows, exhibitors, art show, and food vendors.

Gates will be open Tuesday through Thursday, October 19-21 from 4-10. Friday’s hours will be 4-11, and Saturday the fair will be open from noon until 11 p.m. For more information, call 424-8272, or email unioncofair@gmail.com.
