Daniel Prince

Advance tickets will be on sale soon at WBCU and other locations

With these festivals and events in the books, the next major event for people to look forward to is likely the Union County Agricultural Fair. The fair has been an annual tradition in Union County since 1908. This year, it is scheduled from October 18-22. Attractions at this year’s fair include K9s in Flight, Rosaire’s Racing Pigs, and Lew-E the Clown. The Miss Union County Fair Pageant will take place on Friday, October 21, from 6-8 p.m. One price ride bands for Tuesday through Thursday will be $25, and ride bands for Friday and Saturday will be $30. The fair will continue the opening night tradition of $2 Tuesday, with admission to the fair being $2 with the donation of canned food for local food pantries. Wednesday will once again be Church Night at the Fair, with entertainment by The House of Reconciliation, Assembled, and Monty Allen.

Normal gate admission will be $6 for children ages 2-12 and seniors ages 62 and older, and $8 for those ages 13-61. Toddlers under age 2 get in free. Advance tickets will be on sale soon at Buffalo Pawn Shop, City of Union, Dairio, Dollar General, Fat Sams, Reece O’Dell, Roberts Accounting, Sonoco, Embroidery by Karen, T&L Diner, Town of Carlisle, Union County, Union Medical Center, and WBCU.

The fair will implement a clear bag policy this year. The policy is the same as the clear bag policy the school district has implemented for its sporting events and other major school events. The full details are on the fair’s website at www.itsmyfair.com.
