Union County currently has the highest COVID-19 infection rate in the state over the past two weeks, with an incidence rate of 534.5 per 100,000, reflecting 55 confirmed and 91 probable cases. Pickens County has the second highest infection rate, at 348.3 per 100,000, reflecting 396 confirmed and 46 probable cases.
In the most recent spike in cases that began in July, Union County has had 1486 cases, nearly 1/3 of the total number of COVID cases it has had since the pandemic began in March 2020. 26 people have died from COVID during the most recent spike, nearly ¼ of the total deaths since the pandemic began.
Union County’s vaccination rate of those ages 12 and older stands at 50.6% of the eligible population having at least one shot, a rate that is 7th-lowest in the state. 44.4% of eligible Union County residents have completed their vaccinations, the 6th-lowest rate in the state.
