Whitmire set to compete against 1A bands
The Union County High School marching band is one of 17 bands participating in the 3A/1A Upper State Championships this weekend. The competition will be held at Belton-Honea Path High School on Marlee Gambrell Field this Saturday, October 22. The 1A schools will compete first, and Whitmire High School is one of the nine schools in that classification to compete. The 1A awards will be handed out at 2 p.m. After that, the 3A schools will compete, with awards given at 9 p.m. Tickets to the band Upper State Championships are $12 for adults and $8 for students, cash only. Union County will compete against BHP, Blue Ridge, Camden, Carolina, Chapman, Daniel, Greer, Palmetto, Pickens, Powdersville, Seneca, South Pointe, Southside, Travelers Rest, Walhalla, and Wren.
