Means also charged with domestic violence for 2022 incident
A Union man has been arrested and charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, third-degree domestic violence, and abuse of a vulnerable adult. Investigator Brad Woods spoke to the victim at Union Medical Center on February 15. The woman told Woods that 53-year-old Tommie Lee Means, Jr. had assaulted her with a stick a couple of days earlier, causing bruises to her legs and a large knot and laceration on her left shin. Woods had been to the woman’s house the day before as part of an investigation, and he remembered seeing a broken table leg consistent with the woman’s account of the incident. She went on to detail abuse she had suffered at the hands of Means. She said he has withheld food and water from her when he was upset with her, throwing her food in the floor or knocking it out of her hands. The residence did not have running water, but she said he would pour the water they had acquired down the drain so she could not have it. She said Means has repeatedly withheld or destroyed her medication, refused to take her to medical appointments, and prevented home health care workers from coming to the residence. Based on her physical disabilities, the woman is classified as a vulnerable adult. Means was arrested on the charges on Tuesday. The domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature charge dates back to June 21, 2022.
