Warrants state the incidents occurred between 2019 and 2022
A 56-year-old Union man has been arrested on sex crime charges with a minor. On April 29 of this year, Investigator Chris Fleming received a DSS referral regarding allegations of possible criminal sexual conduct with a minor. According to the arrest warrants, 56-year-old Walter Ernest Thompson faces two counts of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
One warrant states that between March 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020, Thompson engaged in sexual battery with a person between the ages of 11-14 while at an address on Chambers Avenue. A second warrant covers dates between October 5, 2021, and May 24, 2022, stating that Thompson engaged in sexual battery with a person between the ages of 11 and 14 while at his home on Harold Street. Thompson remains in the Union County Detention Center, where a $50,000 surety bond was set for each count.
