Rental scam used Cash App to get his money

A 20-year-old Union man was scammed out of $1400. The man stated he had found a house to rent on Facebook. The house was located in Laurens. The victim said he corresponded with a person who lives in Michigan by phone and through email about it. He said the subject had sent a lease agreement and pictures of the property. The victim sent $1400 through Cash App to the suspect last Wednesday and was supposed to get the keys to the house the following day. He said he went to the house, but no one showed up. He then said he tried to contact the person he had been dealing with, but everything has been blocked. The case has been turned over to investigations.
