Uniquely Union Hopes to Make Triumphant Return This Weekend

Popular festival last was held in 2016

For the first time since 2016, the Uniquely Union Festival is back. Main Street will be closed off starting at noon today, along with a section of Herndon Street from Main Street to Sharpe Avenue. Vendors, kids activities, entertainment, and BBQ are all part of the festival. New this year is a space called Lounge 864, which is aimed toward college students and young adults. It will be at The Depot, the open-air space downtown next to ELB Loans. Jami Trammell explains what will be there:

The on-stage entertainment begins today at 4:30 p.m. with Quest. The opening ceremony for the event will begin at 7, and then Mighty McFly will take the stage from 7-10. On Saturday, the Miss Uniquely Union Beauty Pageant will run from 10-noon, with a brief intermission around 11:30 for a magic show by Jack Roper. From 12-2, Jazzy Humphries and Jesse Gregory will perform. The BBQ awards will be handed out at 4, along with the introduction of Miss Uniquely Union. TJ Jeter will perform on stage from 5-7, and Soul Function, featuring Union’s own Travis Worthy, will close the festival from 7-10.
