Prior to the parade, there will be music by the Union County High School chorus and the Sims Singers. The parade will begin at around 10:30. The ceremony will begin at 11 with prayer by Rev. Scott Cobb. The UCHS JROTC will raise the service organization flags at the War Memorial. Cindy Fore will lead The Star Spangled Banner. Gold Star Mother Lisa Bell and Gold Star Spouse Pamela Garner Sloss will be recognized, as will the Blue Star families of those currently serving. Local dignitaries will then be recognized, followed by the recognition of all the veterans service organizations in the county. All veterans will then be recognized. The high school chorus, Sims Singers, and Jantzen Childers will then sing. Paul Davis will then lead a special recognition of recipients of the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Army Combat Medical Badge, the Army Combat Action Badge, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Coast Guard’s Combat Action Ribbon, and the Air Force/Space Command Combat Action Medal. A wreath will be placed at the War Memorial, followed by a 21-gun salute by the Union unit of the SC Army Reserve National Guard and a recording of Taps. Rev. Gary Ward will close with prayer.
