Woman reportedly took items, left mess in house
A Union woman faces charges after a neighbor witnessed her breaking into a house. Sunday evening, Sgt. Bryan Shaver received a call to respond to a residence on Sprouse Street regarding a break-in. On scene, he spoke with the daughter of the property owner, who said her mother had been in the hospital for some time and she had come to check on the house and found that someone had broken into it. She said someone had used force to break into the front door and the back door. She said she found food items on the floor, the freezer door left open, and Dawn dish detergent smeared on the kitchen chairs and the kitchen floor. She said there were clothes lying outside in the back of the house, and a dress was hanging on the front porch.
She said her neighbor had called her about seeing a woman identified as 57-year-old Carla Beth Wade coming onto the property several times. She said the neighbor told her she had seen Wade sitting on the porch earlier that day as if she owned the place, and she also saw her take a small Christmas tree and a trash bag containing other items from the house. In addition to those items, the property owner’s daughter stated that two flat-screen TVs and 2-4 firearms are also missing from the residence. Shaver went next door and spoke with the neighbor. She gave Shaver a statement, which she signed. Carla Wade was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny. She was also placed on trespass notice from the property on Sprouse Street. The value of the items reported stolen totaled $2835.
