Woman had fake roxys, other pills in her purse
A Union woman was arrested for bringing illegal narcotics with her to her court appearance. Sgt. Nathan Burdine of the Union County Sheriff’s Office was requested to respond to the courthouse regarding possible narcotics in a vehicle. Burdine spoke with the driver, who stated he brought 25-year-old Takiera Sanders to the courthouse for her court date. He said he believed there were illegal drugs in her purse, which was in his car. He gave consent to search his vehicle. Burdine deployed his K-9, who alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Burdine searched the vehicle and found a pill bottle with Sanders’ name on it inside a purse that contained her ID card. Inside the pill bottle was a piece of a plastic bag along with 10-1/2 fake roxys mixed in with legal pills. Burdine also found four white pills that were not in a bottle. He identified them as a prescription-only antidepressant. Sanders did not have a prescription in her possession for those pills. The pills were all seized to be sent for testing by SLED. After Sanders was finished in court, she was arrested and transported to Union County Jail, where she was charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule 1 or schedule 2 narcotic and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. She was sentenced in court to 46 days in jail on other charges.
