Victim identified as 62-year-old Lee Dawkins
A Union woman has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a man following a domestic assault. The Union Public Safety Department responded to the scene at 203 Tiger Court on Thursday, April 13, at around 6:45 p.m. The release states that its initial investigation showed that 51-year-old Felicia Annette Mitchell, of 203A Tiger Court, struck the victim with a blunt object. The victim was found unresponsive inside another apartment at Tiger Court. Union County EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Union Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. According to the Union County Coroner’s Office, the victim was 62-year-old Lee Dawkins. An autopsy performed Monday morning in Newberry showed the manner of death as homicide. No further details have been released by Union Public Safety or the Union County Coroner’s Office, as the investigation continues into the incident. Mitchell was denied bond and remains in the Union County Detention Center.
